Solar Incentive
An important part of solar build-out across our country is the support from government entities. In order to achieve a national goal of energy independence, the U.S. government passed tax laws and beneficial business guidelines that have helped make solar electricity economically viable as an alternative energy source.
Support from government entities
The Federal Government currently has the Federal Investment Tax Credit and MACRS Accelerated Depreciation available for renewable energy installations. A Power Purchase Agreement allows Cities and Small Towns to benefit from these incentives in the form of electricity savings and predictability.
State and local solar incentives
Many states have passed Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) mandating a percentage of energy from renewables. These laws drive solar construction through aggressive timelines and penalties for non-compliance.

Landowner
Electricity revenue
Landowners with a good site for a solar project earn a predictable income from the lease of their land. The benefits of solar are real: free from most market risks, free from most of the volatility that has characterized the energy market in the past 50 years.
Leasing land for solar
Land owners who lease to solar developers do not take on the risk of building or operating. They simply let the land do the work. Lease payments do not depend on how much energy is produced.
